IPL Job vacancy announcement for clinical research assistant for the infectiology & public health laboratory (Deadline on December 26th, 2025)

Institut Pasteur du Laos (IPL) is a Lao National Institution under authority of Ministry of Health. IPL has received a mandate to fulfil activities of public service: Research and diagnostic on emerging infectious diseases and vector borne diseases / Training, Education and Capacity building / Technical assistance for investigation of epidemics.

To support the PROS-PIMES clinical research study, which focuses on identifying new zoonotic diseases in human populations in Lao PDR, IPL is currently looking for a:

CLINICAL RESEARCH ASSISTANT FOR THE INFECTIOLOGY & PUBLIC HEALTH LABORATORY.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Clinical Research Assistant, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and the Project Manager of the study, he/she will be involved in daily activities of:

  • supporting the follow-up of active fever surveillance for approximately 500-600 participants by
    maintaining effective communication, ensuring data quality, and coordinating local clinical and
    community-based activities.
  • preparing the field missions and supporting the operations for additional seroprevalence activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential qualifications
Medical Doctor and/or other health-related fields.
Understanding of ethical rules for research involving human participants, including getting informed consent.

Skills
Strong communication (written and spoken in English and Lao).
Organizational, problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail, and able to work independently and effectively within a diverse team.
Proficient in using eCRF (current software is RedCap) and Microsoft Office (i.e., Word and Excel).

Experiences
Experience in public health research, clinical trials, or similar projects involving fieldwork.
Demonstrated experience in managing field operations, logistics, and coordinating teams.
Experience working in areas with limited resources.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This position is to be filled as soon as possible, from January to June 2026 (6 months).
Based in Vientiane capital, with regular missions in Luangnamtha, Champasak, Khammuan, etc. provinces.
