Job Vacancy Announcement Institut Pasteur du Laos (IPL) is a Lao National Institution under the Ministry of Health. IPL has received a mandate to fulfill activities of public service: Research and diagnostic on emerging infectious diseases and vector borne diseases / Training, Education and Capacity Building / Technical assistance for investigation of epidemics. The Information Technology Department is part of the administrative and technical organization in order to provide technologies, tools and services for the different laboratories and other administrative services.

IPL is currently looking for a:

IT MANAGER ASSISTANT

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Manager Assistant will work under the supervision of the Chief Technical Officer and will support him in overseeing and managing the Information Technology department. This role involves assisting in the coordination, planning, and execution of IT-related activities in the organization, ensuring the IT infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

1. Assist in Managing IT Projects: Provide support in managing IT projects, including planning, implementation, and monitoring progress.
2. Technical Support: Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a timely manner. Provide support to staff and manage requests for technical assistance.
3. System Maintenance: Help in maintaining IT systems, ensuring all hardware and software are updated and functioning properly.
4. Documentation: Assist in creating and maintaining IT documentation, policies, and procedures.
5. Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external vendors for IT equipment and services.
6. Training and Support: Help train staff on new technologies and systems. Provide ongoing technical support to team members.
7. Reporting: Assist in the preparation of IT reports and keeping track of IT inventory.
8. Security Oversight: Support in ensuring the security of IT systems and data protection.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
Proven experience in an IT support role
Strong knowledge of computer systems, networks, and various software applications
Excellent problem-solving, including unknown problems, and analytical skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage Windows environment & applications

Preferred Skills
General knowledge of Linux (RHEL)
Certifications in IT fields (e.g., CompTIA, LPI, Microsoft Certified Professional)
Experience with cloud services and network administration
Project management experience
Coding skills (PHP, SQL, JavaScript) is a plus

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Based in Vientiane, this full-time position is to be filled as soon as possible.
The role requires occasional after-hours support.
