IPL Job vacancy announcement for junior scientist for parasitology laboratory (Deadline December 14th, 2025)

Institut Pasteur du Laos (IPL) is a Lao National Institution under authority of Ministry of Health. IPL has received a mandate to fulfil activities of public service: Research and diagnostic on emerging infectious diseases and vector borne diseases / Training, Education and Capacity building / Technical assistance for investigation of epidemics. The parasitology laboratory is currently involved in malaria, schistosomiasis (blood fluke) and opisthorchiasis (liver fluke) surveillance, research and development of infection prevention technologies, develops effective health education on parasitology.

IPL is currently looking for a:

JUNIOR SCIENTIST FOR PARASITOLOGY LABORATORY.

RESPONSIBILITIES

– As junior scientist, under the supervision of the head of the group, he/she will be involved in daily activities of the lab (microscopic examination, molecular and serology diagnosis, parasite culture, freshwater snail breeding and management, dissect snails and fish vectors to identify prevalence of parasites, etc.) and in the field (collecting biological materials and environmental materials, such as water, questionnaire survey, providing health education).
– He/she will be in charge of the communication between the laboratory and the external partners (hospitals, health centers, and other stakeholders).
– He/she will assist his/her supervisor to prepare the weekly and monthly reports on the lab activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential qualifications
MD with master’s degree (in public health, tropical medicine, parasitology, biology) or PhD degree (in public health, tropical medicine, parasitology, biology) Good level in English (written and oral) and Lao.

Skills
Highly motivated to develop himself/herself in the field of parasitology.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Hard working and sense of organization.
Good sense of diplomacy.

Experiences
Previous working experience in a diagnosis or research laboratory will be appreciated.
