IPL Job vacancy announcement for a technician for parasitology laboratory (Deadline April 24th, 2026)

Institut Pasteur du Laos (IPL) is a Lao National Institution under authority of Ministry of Health. IPL has received a mandate to fulfil activities of public service: Research and diagnostic on (emerging) infectious diseases and vector-borne diseases / Training, Education and Capacity building / Technical assistance for investigation of epidemics. The parasitology laboratory is currently involved in several research studies and needs to reinforce the team.

IPL is currently looking for a:

TECHNICIAN FOR THE PARASITOLOGY LABORATORY

RESPONSIBILITIES

– As laboratory technician, under the supervision of the head of laboratory or his delegate, he/she will be involved mainly in the field (missions’ preparation, collection of parasites (blood, stool, and urine, etc.) and its vectors, such as snails, fish, mosquitos, and environmental samples such as water, records of related data, interview study participants, etc.) and also daily activities of the laboratory (utilization of different laboratory technics, morphological and molecular identification of parasites and its vectors, detection of parasites and its vectors DNA in the environmental samples, and detection of drug resistance mutations of parasites);

– He/she will contribute to gathering field and laboratory data to prepare reports on the laboratory activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential qualifications.
Diploma degree or Bachelor’s degree (in medical science, medical technology, biology, or other domain-related equivalent).
Good level in English (written and oral) and Lao.

Skills
Highly motivated to develop himself/herself in the field of parasites and their vectors and vector-borne diseases, as well as to learn and apply new technologies in the field of infectious diseases.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Hard working and a sense of organization.
Good ability to work within a team.
Strong ability to work in the field.

Experiences
Previous working experience in a diagnostic or research laboratory will be appreciated.
