IPL Job vacancy announcement for technician for the entomology laboratory (Deadline August 31st, 2024)

Job Vacancy Announcement Institut Pasteur du Laos (IPL) is a Lao National Institution under authority of Ministry of Health. IPL has received a mandate to fulfil activities of public service: Research and diagnostic on (emerging) infectious diseases and vector borne diseases / Training, Education and Capacity building / Technical assistance for investigation of epidemics. The entomology laboratory is currently involved in several research studies and need to reinforce his team.

IPL is currently looking for a:

TECHNICIAN FOR THE ENTOMOLOGY LAB.

RESPONSIBILITIES.

– As a laboratory technician, under the supervision of the head of the laboratory or his delegate, he/she will be involved mainly in the field (missions’ preparation, collection of insect vectors, records of related data, etc.) and also daily activities of the laboratory (utilization of different laboratory technics, morphological and molecular identification of insect vectors and detection of pathogens related to insect vectors);
– He/she will contribute to gather field & laboratory data to prepare reports on the laboratory activities.

QUALIFICATIONS.

Essential qualifications.
Diploma degree or Bachelor degree (in medical science, medical technology, biology or other domain related equivalent)
Good level in English (written and oral) and Lao.

Skills.
Highly motivated to develop himself/herself in the field of insect vectors and vector-borne diseases, as well as to learn and to apply new technologies in the field of infectious diseases.
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Hard working and sense of organization.
Good ability to work within a team.
Strong ability to work in the field.

Experiences.
Previous working experience in a diagnostic or research laboratory will be appreciated.

A groundbreaking ceremony marked the launch of the construction of new laboratories at the Institut Pasteur du Laos for a total amount of 837,000 Euros. Number of Lao and foreigner Officials attended the ceremony.
