IPL Job vacancy announcement for LaoLuxLab Junior Scientist/Research Engineer (January 29th, 2024)

Institut Pasteur du Laos (IPL) is a Lao National Institution under the authority of the Ministry of Health. IPL has received a mandate to fulfill activities of public service: Research and diagnostic on (emerging) infectious diseases and vector borne diseases / Training, Education and Capacity Building / Technical assistance for investigation of epidemics. The vaccine-preventable diseases laboratory (LaoLuxLab) is currently involved in the investigation of the burden and epidemiology of various infectious diseases with a focus on vaccine-preventable diseases and is also providing scientific evidence to optimize vaccination programs and health strategies.

IPL is currently looking for a:

JUNIOR SCIENTIST/RESEARCH ENGINEER FOR VACCINE PREVENTABLE DISEASES LAB (LAOLUXLAB)

RESPONSIBILITIES

– As a junior scientist/research engineer, under the supervision of the head of the group, he/she will be involved in daily activities of the lab (sample reception and processing, antibody and nucleic acid detection, etc.) and in the field (collecting biological materials, questionnaire survey, providing health education)

– He/she will support the two scientists of the LaoLuxLab concerning the supervision of the technicians and communication with external partners (e.g. hospitals, health centers, and other stakeholders)

– He/she will assist his/her supervisor to prepare reports on the lab activities

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential qualifications

MD with Master’s degree (in public health, tropical medicine, biology) or PhD degree (in public health, tropical medicine, biology) Good level in English (written and oral) and Lao

Skills

Highly motivated to develop himself/herself in the field of infectious diseases
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Hard working and a sense of organization
Good sense of diplomacy

Experiences

Previous working experience in a diagnostic or research laboratory will be appreciated.
